Tihuța Pass, also known as Bârgău Pass, is one of Romania's most scenic mountain passes. Located at over 1,200 meters above sea level, it connects Transylvania and Bucovina while offering spectacular views of the Bârgău and Călimani Mountains.
The area is known for its mountain scenery, fresh air, and numerous hiking opportunities. Crossed by the DN17 national road, the pass is considered one of the most beautiful driving routes in northern Romania.
Tihuța Pass is also famous for its connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula novel. Nearby, visitors can find the well-known Dracula Castle in Piatra Fântânele, one of the region's most popular attractions.
The Via Transilvanica long-distance trail also passes through the area, making it a favorite destination for hikers and cyclists exploring the Eastern Carpathians.
