Humor Monastery, one of the most famous medieval sites in Bucovina, impresses visitors with its remarkably preserved exterior frescoes. Built in 1530 by the high chancellor Toader Bubuiog, the church is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Unlike other fortified monasteries in the region, Humor stands out due to its open porch with arches and the absence of a steeple above the nave. The dominant tone of the mural paintings is a signature reddish-brown, with notable frescoes depicting the Hymn of the Akathist and the Siege of Constantinople.
The complex also features a defense tower erected by Prince Petru Rares in 1541, offering a great view of the courtyard and the surrounding countryside.
