Ursu Lake is Sovata's best-known natural attraction and one of Romania's most spectacular salt lakes. Formed following the collapse of a former salt mining area, the lake has a shape resembling a bear's hide, which inspired its name. It is famous for the phenomenon of heliothermy, whereby deeper layers of water become warm due to solar energy trapped in the upper layers. Surrounded by forests, the lake forms part of a remarkable natural landscape.

Lacul Ursu este cunoscut atât pentru valoarea sa naturală, cât și pentru proprietățile terapeutice ale apei sărate și nămolului. În timpul sezonului estival, accesul pentru îmbăiere este permis în anumite intervale și în condițiile stabilite de administrația zonei. Nu este recomandată intrarea în apă în afara zonelor și perioadelor autorizate. Pentru o vizită completă, puteți explora și Lacul Aluniș, Lacul Verde și traseele forestiere din jurul stațiunii Sovata.
