About this place

The Suceava Seat Fortress, built at the end of the 14th century by Petru I Mușat and later fortified by Stephen the Great, is one of the most significant historical monuments in Moldavia. Positioned on a plateau overlooking the city, the fortress was designed as a fortified princely residence capable of withstanding severe sieges.

Following an extensive restoration and modernization effort, the citadel now offers an interactive museum experience. Within its thick stone walls, visitors can explore the rooms of the former princely palace, cellars, chapels, and defense towers, with many areas featuring video projections, holograms, and medieval weapons exhibitions.

Beyond its historical value, the fortified complex provides a remarkable panorama over the Suceava valley and regularly hosts medieval festivals, historical reenactments, and cultural events.
