About this place

Clocota Waterfall is one of the most striking waterfalls in Hunedoara County, located right on the edge of the Geoagiu-Băi resort. What makes it truly special is its water source: the waterfall is fed by several thermal and mineral springs in the area, meaning the water never freezes completely during winter.

The waterfall stands around 20 meters high, cascading over a limestone ledge covered in moss and lush vegetation. Travertine deposits formed over time give the waterfall a distinct terraced appearance and a memorable look.

Access is remarkably easy, making the visit suitable for all age groups. A short, gentle walk from the center of Geoagiu-Băi resort brings you right to the base of the waterfall in just a few minutes, where you can enjoy the natural scenery and take photos.

Good to know

  • Access: The path to the waterfall is very easy and flat, taking about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the resort center.

  • Nearby attractions: Nearby highlights include the ancient Roman Baths (Germisara) and the Geoagiu-Băi resort park.
  • Best time to visit: The waterfall is accessible year-round, but the water flow is most impressive in spring and after heavy rainfall.
