About this place

The Hármashalom Altar is one of Romania's most important Catholic pilgrimage sites, located on the saddle between Greater and Lesser Șumuleu Hills near Miercurea Ciuc. Built in 1996 and designed by renowned architect Imre Makovecz, the altar features a striking design inspired by the heraldic symbol of the "triple hill" and the double cross. Every year, it hosts the famous Pentecost Pilgrimage of Șumuleu Ciuc, attracting hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from around the world and serving as a symbol of faith and unity.

Good to know
